 First Aid at Work certificates are valid for three years.

Our FAW courses will enable workplace First Aiders to feel confident when assisting their workmates and visitors in situations requiring their help.

Employers need to undertake a first aid needs assessment to identify what type of first aid training is required in the workplace and how many first aiders are needed.

There are 2 levels of workplace First Aider:

J First Aider at Work (FAW) - 18 hour course
J Emergency First Aider at Work (EFAW) - 6 hour course

First Aid at Work Certificate - 3 day course

This course is suitable for all companies, particularly those with a large number of staff or those working in a high risk environment.

Pre-Requisites

Learners must be able to carry out the functions of a first aider and must be aware that they must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment, which consists of a short multiple choice test and a practical skills assessment.

Minimum group size: 6 - maximum: 12 

Group price: £145 per person (7th place free for the course organiser) when we train on your premises.

First Aid at Work Certificate (Requalifying) - 2 day course

Minimum group size: 6 - maximum: 12

Group price: £85 per person (7th place free for the course organiser) when we train on your premises.

Individual price: £90 (open course)

Emergency First Aid at Work - 6 hour course

This course is suitable for staff working in a low risk environment.

Minimum group size: 6 - maximum: 12 

Group price: £55 per person (7th & 8th places free) when we train on your premises.

Individual price: £60 (open course)

FAW certificates

FAW certificates are valid for three years. However, a first-aider can attend an FAW requalification course up to three months before the expiry date on their certificate. The new certificate will then be effective from that expiry date. Where this has not been possible, HSE will allow an extension of the certificate for 28 days beyond the expiry date, within which a requalification course should be completed.

A first-aider requalifying within a period of certificate extension will have their new certificate dated from the expiry date of the previous one. Any first-aider (FAW) who is not able to complete a requalification course up to a maximum of 28 days after the expiry date of their three-year certificate, will be required to retake a full FAW course.
